Kids Discover Geography App Review – Around The World In Amazement

I’m always answering the “why” questions from my kids. Sometimes I have the actual answer and other times I make something up. Every once in a while I just won’t say anything in hopes that they stop asking until I can get home and Wikipedia the answer. That’s precisely why I have a certain fondness for the KIDS DISCOVER line of edu-apps. I’ve gotten out of some pretty tricky explaining (maybe fabricating?) of some pretty tricky subjects, like galaxies and simple machines. Using a calculated combination of different media – animations, photographs, short clips among some – the KD apps provide a healthy balance of pure education and complete amusement. KIDS DISCOVER Geography is the newest release in the KD line, but in my opinion outshines its predecessors. Simple Machines by KIDS DISCOVER App Review – Simply Fascinating

When I became parent, the word “simple” was erased from my vocabulary. Getting dressed in the morning takes so long that we rarely leave the house before lunch. Short trips became epic adventures and quick questions evolved into lengthy discussions. Washington D.C. KIDS DISCOVER App Review – District Of Discovery

I learned a pretty interesting fact today about the difference between “capitol” and “capital”. When talking about government the former is used for actual buildings while the latter refers to the location of the seat of government. So the big white rotunda is a capitol building, but Washington D.C. is the capital of America. You learn something new each day, huh? Galaxies by KIDS DISCOVER App Review – Out Of This World

My husband got a telescope Christmas and my kids were, of course, immediately smitten with the device and the idea of seeing stars. Despite frigid winter temps and cloudy evenings they spent several nights trying to locate different constellations. On day 3 of this exploration, the tough questions began. What’s a star? What’s the universe? Is something else out there? Why can’t we have ice cream for dinner? Because my husband and I limit our astral knowledge to daily horoscopes we turned to the app Galaxies by KIDS DISCOVER.
