iPad App Review: Clangers – Playtime Planet

There’s something about watching BBC World News that just makes me feel smarter and instantly more stoic. Maybe it’s the accent, maybe it’s the British sensibility – if I have a choice, I’ll choose BBC news over American channels any day. I’ve also enjoyed learning about British life through BBC serial programming and the British soaps the channel airs. (I can’t tell you how many times I’ve replaced American profanity with a cheeky British term just to sound worldly and sophisticated.) What I didn’t realize until I had children was that there is some seriously awesome BBC programming for kids. Of course Thomas the Engine was created across the pond and I’ve watched more of those episodes than I would willingly admit. Who can forget the Teletubbies phenomenon of the 90’s? CBeebies Star, Justin Fletcher, Launches Storybook App Line

If you live in or visit the UK, you are likely already familiar with CBeebies. For those of you who have no idea what CBeebies is, it’s basically the PBS Kids or Nick Jr. of the UK. Now, Justin Fletcher, an actor who frequents CBeebies on shows such as ‘Something Special’, ‘Gigglebiz’, and ‘Justin’s House’, has announced the launch of his very own line of apps under the ‘Justin’s House’ brand. The first app of the series, and interactive reboot of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, will be available to the public on May 17th. This interactive storybook is one like you have never seen before! The main attraction is Justin himself, starring in a live-action video while dressed as Goldilocks and happily jumping around and telling the story.
