April is Autism Awareness Month and today April 2 is World Autism Awareness Day.  To recognize this cause, many developers have reduced the download price of several apps, some are even free!  Here’s a short list of some of our favorite app deals:

  • StoryToys is also celebrating the birthday of Hans Christian Andersen by pricing two apps at $0.99 – Thumbelina and The Little Mermaid.  Both interactive storybooks are based on popular fairytales and offer cool 3D artwork
  • Functional Communication System offers customizable features to create a system that helps non-verbal kiddos communicate effectively, helping to alleviate frustration and teach players about the world around them – valued at $19.99 it’s FREE for a limited time
  • Children with autism have difficulty recognizing emotional and social cues – Discovering Emotions with Zeely can help teach children about how to  identify the facial expressions that accompany different emotions
  • We love Toca Boca apps because of their intuitive interfaces and absence of any written directions, so seeing Toca Band as a free download really makes our day!  It’s a perfect app to help special needs kiddos express their creativity

It’s being reported that 1 in 68 children have an autism spectrum diagnosis, which means that it’s very likely you know someone who is affected by autism.  The National Autism Association is a wonderful resource that I’ve actually used myself.  Follow on Facebook or Twitter @NationalAutism
