Kids love to color, paint, and doodle. This unique drawing app is great fun for kids. It records their voice and strokes as they draw allowing them to play back and see their work or share it with friends. The app features more than 20 question prompts giving kids some inspiration to create their masterpiece. Kids can choose a prompt or start something from scratch. The developer is also selling the app as an educational tool – parents can use it to teach letters, numbers and other items that children can benefit from repeatedly watching the saved videos. $2.99.

Droodl

This app is simple and to the point. Children can complete partial drawings already started by the app or create their own new “droodl”. New drawings – or droodls – are added daily. If a mistake is made, there is an eraser feature. Your little Picasso can share their artwork on Facebook or via email. Free, but has an in-app purchase of $0.99 for a large color palette.

DrawPals

This coloring book app is for kids of all ages. It includes 60 pages of fun themes for Halloween and Christmas, as well as other fun object themes for children. Users can also draw or paint their own pictures using 4 paint brushes, pencil, marker, crayon, and more. There are also stickers to decorate your work and 70 colors to choose from. When finished, either save your work to finish later or save your creation to the gallery, photo library, or share via email. Free, but has in-app purchases.

MyPaint

This painting app is in HD and is sure to unleash your child’s inner artist. They can paint, finger paint, scribble or doodle to create something new or add to photos already in your iPad’s photo stream. The app contains special brushes and the ability to mix colors to come up with a one-of-a-kind piece. The app allows you to zoom in up to 1,600% and it auto saves your work. $1.99.

Color & Draw for Kids HD

4 apps for the price of 1! This app is a sketchbook where you can draw or paint, a coloring book that features real painting, not “auto-fill”, a photo decorator, and a letter/number tracer. It contains multiple drawing tools, 50 color pages with stickers, alphabet and number tracers, and even an art store where you can buy expansion packs (which parents can lock). Children can choose from multiple backgrounds and decorate photos already saved on your iPad. Creations can be saved in the in-app art gallery, your iPad’s photo album or emailed. There are also 50 custom voice over instructions to give kids idea prompts. $1.99.

Kids Doodle

An easy, simple drawing and painting app that even younger kids can enjoy. There is support for more than 10 brushes, including glow/neon, rainbow, crayon, oil brush and more. The Movie Mode plays back your drawing steps, which is fun for kids to watch or share with friends and family.
