It’s that time of year: The Holiday Season. With two of the biggest holidays less than a month apart, the months of November and December can be downright crazy. This is our family’s first year with a child in school. In addition to our usual holiday craziness of house guests and road trips, we now have all the holiday happenings that come with a school-age child: School parades, classroom feasts, seasonal fundraising, so on and so forth. It can all get a little overwhelming, hence my 10-pound weight gain and my Kindergartner’s newest hobby of backtalk and cry diving (like cliff diving except you just throw yourself on the floor crying). My Secret Affliction: Digital Hoarding

One of my favorite shows to watch is A&E’s Hoarders. For starters, I always come away from the show feeling better about the state of my own house. Mine may be cluttered and the garage stacked to the ceiling, but at least there aren’t any animal carcasses buried under piles of 20-year-old mail. In some ways, the show also serves as a reminder of what I’m overcoming. You see, I believe there is a hoarder inside me. As my husband sometimes says, we are one tragedy away from being on that show. Yes, he is harboring an inner hoarder as well. It’s one of the few things we have in common! Ahhhhh, the selfie. Don’t bother denying it: You’ve taken one. You know what I’m talking about…that picture of yourself taken by yourself, probably with your camera-holding arm visibly protruding from the corner of the photo, most likely capturing a kissy face or a casual off-in-the-distance glance.
