Rube Works App Review – Check Out These Mighty Machines

A few weeks ago I was skimming through my Twitter feed and I stumbled across a tweet about a newly released – and officially endorsed – Rube Goldberg app. To say the least, I was intrigued and got in touch with the developers at Electric Eggplant to see if I could snag a promo code and more information about this really cool app. This was before the holidays, and yesterday I finally got the pleasure of sitting down with my iPad to see what Rube Works was all about. Designed with input from Rube Goldberg’s granddaughter, this app captures the essence of Rube from start to finish. Players create complicated “machines” to perform daily tasks such as getting a glass of orange juice or turning out the lights without getting out of bed. Advenchewers App Review – High Flying Bubblegum Fun

Our family hit an important milestone last week. My kids finally know how to chew bubble gum without swallowing it, and if you have kids then you know what an achievement that is. Telling a 3-year-old to chew but not swallow is like telling a parakeet to swim a few laps – it just ain’t happenin’. It’s like Warner Brothers knew that this was going to happen and released Advenchewers, a platformer loaded with features that make it the perfect game for school-aged kiddos. It’s not an educational game but it is a great example of a fun time-buster that is age-appropriate and engaging. The storyline is that of a robot takeover and the main character needs to save the world before his father has to serve a robot General. Amigo Pancho App Review – A Fiesta For Your iPad

Let’s talk about physics for a minute. And I promise you it’ll only be a minute because that’s the time it will take to impart to you all of my physics knowledge. Ready? Physics is what helps me propel my body over my small children when they decide to stop in their tracks as we walk through the aisles of the grocery store. WOW, that was taxing for my brain. Physics is also a really important concept for school-aged kids to learn to build a strong foundation of knowledge in both math and science. It’s also the basis for game play in the new app Amigo Pancho. iTooch Elementary School App Review – Common Core Learning

My mom has been teaching for over 30 years. When she started, the only way to create a student worksheet was to chisel the questions on a marble tablet and then slide down a dinosaur tail to place it on the student’s desk. (Don’t tell my ma I used that joke again – wasn’t well received when I tried it out on her the other night at dinner.) Thankfully for Mom times sure have changed. We’ve used and reviewed more than a handful of kids’ edu-apps and iTooch Elementary School beats the others in the App Store by a few dinosaur tails. Covering math, science, and language arts at the elementary school level – that’s third, fourth, and fifth grade – there are over 4,000 questions. That’s a lot of learning.
